Tree-hugging Hippies

Life for the last year or so has been busy; I work, I study, I write and I try to have a 'life' away from all these things with friends and family. At times it's exhilarating and I feel like I'm doing something worthwhile and essential for the future of the planet, at other times I have to drag myself out of bed and I question if it makes any difference at all.

When I occasionally ask myself why I'm juggling working as a sustainability teacher and doing a Masters in the same field, it just takes something like this image to find the answer. Yes, life is currently busy and at times it feels like a lost cause when people dismiss either my job or 'hippy treehuggers' as being worthless. But I shall prevail because my students, and their futures, make it all worthwhile.

Besides, hugging trees is fun - if more people spent a few minutes each day hugging a tree the world would be a much better place. And making the world a better place is what it's all about. Who can argue with that?
